Center of Politics & Education

The 7^th is a bastion of state institutions.  The National Assembly (the French parliament) is certainly the most important institution followed by Hôtel Matignon that serves as the office of the Prime Minister.  More than 10 ministries including the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Education, Trade and Industry, Labor, and Agriculture are also based in the 7^th.

Several Grandes Ecoles of engineering and administration that, for centuries, have provided the political and business élite of France are also located in the 7^th.
