Our Neighborhood: Paris 7
The
7th District of Paris The
Groupe ESLSCA has a typical inner-city campus; academic divisions, facilities
and administrative units are dispersed in several locations within a
neighborhood.
All school buildings are located in the 7th district
or arrondissement of Paris,
in the area surrounding the Eiffel Tower, and between two parks – the
Champs de Mars (location of the Eiffel Tower) and les Invalides (location
of Napoleon’s tomb).
The school is right across the River Seine, from Avenue George
V and the Champs Elysées. The
7th arrondissement
is a historical district situated at the center of Paris on the left
bank of the Seine River.
It was developed under the reign of Henry IV (1589 – 1610) when
the aristocracy began to move to the area and build luxurious urban
palaces called hôtels.
Many of these palaces have been transformed into museums and
administrative buildings over time.
The Hôtel
de Matignon, the office of the Prime Minister, and the Rodin
Museum are two good examples. The 7th remains basically a residential area and a favorite of the rich. According to the annual surveys published by the Notary Public of Paris, the 7th is still the most expensive arrondissement of Paris.
